A Sony spokeswoman declined to say what the company’s next game might be.
The spokeswoman, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the company had yet to announce a new title.
The spokesman said the games industry is a very different place today than it was a few years ago.
Sony has sold more than $5 billion in software over the past 12 months, the spokeswoman said.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., the Sony Corp. subsidiary, has more than 50 million registered users worldwide.
The company also sells a suite of consoles called PlayStation 4 that it says are the most popular games consoles of all time.
The PlayStation 4 has also sold more consoles than any other console in history.
Some analysts, however, question whether Sony’s sales growth will continue.
Microsoft Corp. said last month that Sony is on track to lose $6 billion in the next 12 months.
It said the losses would likely accelerate as more games are released for the console.
